Check out the hazy, psychedelic new music video for The War on Drugs’ excellent tune “Under The Pressure”.

Real Estate covered The Cranberries “Linger”, can’t tell if I love it or hate it. probably both.

This new Haim video is a weird one. It features Vanessa Bayer as a 90’s talk show host with special appearances by Ke$ha, Grimes, A$AP Rocky, and Ezra Koening. Just go with it.

I’ve got a serious this-will-make-your-day newsflash: you can now stream Ty Segall’s incredible new double album Manipulator over at NPR.
Call it his love letter to SF as he moves away to LA, call it a return to form, call it 17 tracks of T Rex callbacks, however you spin it, this psychedelic garage rock fuzz fest has earned an A+ in my book.

Shit I almost completely forgot - Purling Hiss and The Men are playing for free at the Brooklyn Night Bazaar tonight so go rock your f’n head off. Have an awesome weekend everyone. Hopefully next week will have some good news.

Some more new material from Foxygen: here’s “Hang” performed live on KEXP.

Ty Segall, Susie Thumb 326 plays

I gotta tell you, this new Ty Segall album Manipulator may very well be his best yet. If Sleeper and Fuzz were risks, then Manipulator is a glorious return to form. Check out “Susie Thumb” and pick up Manipulator on August 26th.

I love Ex Hex, lead by Mary Timony, formerly of Wild Flag, and comprised of some awesome 30-something lady rockers. Their new album Rips is out this fall, and as Stereogum put it, is full of “more hooks than a bait and tackle shop.” Check out their newest tune “Beast” and you’ll see what they mean.

Mac DeMarco knows Coldplay’s ‘Yellow’ by heart, just like you

Goddamn. Pure X release “Crazy Lust” and "Strangel", two b-sides from their absolutely perfect 2014 album Angel.

Foxygen play a new song: “Can’t Contextualize My Mind”

Yep. MORE music videos.

This time, coming from Foxygen, who has released a music video for their new song “How Can You Really” off their upcoming album Foxygen…And Star Power. I’m interested to see how 2014 treats these boys. I’m certainly rooting for them.

I have to admit some bias here - I fucking LOVE Purling Hiss. Ever since I saw them open for Woods, I’ve been hooked on their (sometimes frustratingly) low-fi high-quality psych rock. These guys can really fly off the handlebars into complete weirdness or get lost in a jam, but they always manage to reel it back in.

On their upcoming album Weirdon, they’re sounding less weird than I’ve ever heard them. “Learning Slowly” is an awesome throwback catchy as f rock song, and it seems like they’ve maybe learned from fellow psych-rockers The Men that a little straight-forward songwriting can go a long way. It makes perfect sense to see these two bands on the same bill for the Brooklyn Night Bazaar in a few weeks, and I think this will be a show for the history books.

Quite a day for music videos. We’ve also got a new Mac DeMarco vid for “Chamber of Reflection” featuring Homer Simpson with boobs wandering around Brooklyn, waiting for the G train, passing out in the grass. We’ve all been there.

Real Estate's new video for “Had to Hear” is full of low-key vibes because duh, it's Real Estate.
