SF indie rockers The Dodos have just shared a new song “Confidence” - an aggressive, stompy new tune from their upcoming album Carrier, due out in August. These guys are known for their driving rhythms, but their sound has definitely grown since their 2011 release No Color. Sounds like: Local Natives, Grizzly Bear.

Vampire Weekend absolutely killed it on SNL this weekend. Here they are shredding through “Diane Young”, and you can also check out their performance of “Unbelievers” here.

The National play in a tiny room with a tiny air-guitar star in their video for “Sea of Love”, which they premiered on Reddit earlier this morning. Their new album Trouble Will Find Me drops May 20th.

Here’s a new tune from Southern punks The Black Lips, fittingly called “Cruising”, because if you’re anything like me, this is exactly what you’d want to listen to on a hazy summer day cruising down an empty dusty highway. This new tune is part of a garage rock compilation called Garage Swim put together by Adult Swim and Dr. Pepper, with tracks from King Tuff, Thee Oh Sees, Mikal Cronin, King Khan, Jeff the Brotherhood, and other garage rock heavy hitters. Watch Tame Impala turn Outkast’s “Protoype” into a spacey, warm, slow jam for the ages. So good.

Summer is arguably the best time to catch live shows, and it’s even better when you can catch them for free. The Northside Festival just tossed up some tickets for The Walkmen and Phosphorescent on June 14th that are free with an RSVP, so get on it before they disappear!

Mac Demarco explores his…feminine side in this cross-dressing new video for his track “My Kind of Girl”. It’s quite a sight to behold.

Warning: there’s some butts.

Yes the Woodsist Festival lineup has been announced (Real Estate, White Fence, Woods, Foxygen, the Fresh and Onlys and more) yes it’s spanning two weekends and is better than ever, no I can’t go, yes tickets go on sale this Friday, no I don’t want to talk about it.
UPDATE: Hell yeah I got my tickets. Worth every penny.

The National give us another glimpse into their new album Trouble Will Find Me as they perform “Sea of Love” and “I Need My Girl” live on Jimmy Fallon last night.

Attention: for people who love The National, especially their song “Sorrow” off of High Violet, make sure to catch them at MoMA PS1, where they will be playing their song for SIX HOURS STRAIGHT. Yes you read that correctly. This piece will be part of a collaboration with Icelandic artist Ragnar Kjartansson, and fittingly titled “A Lot of Sorrow”. Sorry to jump to conclusions on this one, but it sounds depressing as f.

The Dirty Projectors are the latest band to churn out a remix of Phoenix’s tune “Entertainment” off Bankrupt!

The new video from The Babies for their tune “Mess Me Around” illustrates the highs and lows of hitchiking around LA.

Check out Foxygen’s magnificent Take Away Show for La Blogotheque, in which they perform “In the Darkness” and “No Destruction” while marching through a market in Paris and stealing apples. Also check out their performance of “On Blue Mountain”. Love these weird little kids.
