Here’s the new music video from My Morning Jacket frontman Jim James for his Regions of Light and Sound of God track “A New Life” in which he goes through some magical doors and finds himself singing to a buffalo-headed woman. Pretty standard stuff.

A limited Edition “It Makes No Difference” Limited Edition vinyl pressing from My Morning Jacket will be available November 23rd. Benefits will go towards the estate of Levon Helm to keep “The Ramble” living on in his memory.
Side A: “It Makes No Difference” (Live at the Newport Folk Festival) ft. Brittany Howard of the Alabama Shakes

This is so important

Before the heavy rains set in Saturday at the Newport Folk Festival, My Morning Jacket and Brittany Howard of Alabama Shakes played “It Makes No Difference”, a tribute to Levon Helm of The Band, who died in April. Jim James performed the tune with Helm at the Folk Fest in 2010 before his death. This incredible tribute starts at 12:43.

J/Yim J/Yames of My Morning Jacket has teamed up with Jay Farrar (of Uncle Tupelo, Son Volt), Will Johnson (Centro-matic) and Anders Parker (Gob Iron) to record a collection of previously unreleased Woody Guthrie songs as part of the Guthrie’s 100th birthday celebration. Stream “Old LA” above, and make sure to check out the tracklist. These dudes will be touring under the moniker New Multitudes after the album drops Feb 27th, and you can catch them in NYC at Webster Hall on March 14th

My Morning Jacket (ft The Head and the Heart), When the Bells Start Ringing 30 plays

I am not one for Christmas songs, but this new My Morning Jacket cut featuring the Head and the Heart seems worth sharing. “When The Bells Start Ringing” is taken from their brand new holiday iTunes session release, which you can grab here. (So looking forward to seeing MMJ and Band of Horses next week!)

The new My Morning Jacket video for Holdin on to Black Metal, featuring evil little singing ghosties.

Last night, My Morning Jacket held their Unstaged Concert at the Palace Theater in Louisville, KY. They played for three solid hours, and streamed all the footage live on YouTube. There were three camera angles to choose from, a camera on the side of the stage, a hovering crane camera (called the Owl Cam), and finally, the artfully directed angles of Todd Haynes’ selection. Haynes did an amazing job capturing the energy and excitement of a live MMJ show. Check out his cut of  ”Wordless Chorus” above, featuring Ms. Erykah Badu. Here’s another video, shot by a lucky audience member, of the band and Badu performing an amazing version of her song “Tyrone”. Jim James gets down on his knees for a burning hot solo. Just an amazing live band!

My Morning Jacket Storytellers! Wish I could have been there. It’ll air June 3rd, but here’s a clip of their beautiful tune Golden. Also, check our their new song on the Pitchfork website, I think it’s pretty awesome.
